Why do we use Wispr Flow?​

Yes, you can use it to write emails. That's not the reason.

The real reason is the prompt. Speaking lets you give far more detail than you'd bother to type. That detail is what makes the output good. It's also much quicker. A typed prompt gets shortened because typing is annoying. A spoken one keeps the number, the name, and what you actually need.

Ollie mostly uses it just in Claude. Hold the key, talk the brief into the box, let go.

This is the game changer for how you work. Richer prompts. Better output. Voice is the way this is all moving, so get used to it now.

One subscription, if that's the constraint​

Wispr has a meeting transcriber. If you only want one subscription, you can use it instead of Granola, and Claude can read those notes once the connector is on.

Be honest about the trade. The Granola app is a lot better than Wispr's for meetings. If meetings are the job, keep Granola. Use Wispr's transcriber when you don't want a second subscription.

Use the dictionary​

Make more use of the dictionary. If you use specific company names or people's names, add them. Otherwise you'll correct the same spelling every time, and you'll have spent the time you just saved.

Add a name the first time it gets it wrong. Product lines and acronyms too.

The app, briefly​

It also types into email, Slack, and anywhere else your cursor is. We still mostly use it in Claude.

  1. Download it from wisprflow.ai and sign in. Allow the microphone.
  2. The default shortcut is to hold fn. Pick a key you'll remember.
  3. Add the names you use every week. That's the dictionary, above.
  4. IT often has to approve it. Ask before the session. If it isn't installed yet, use the microphone inside Claude. That only types into Claude.

There is a free plan, with limits. Paid plans raise them. Check the price at wisprflow.ai/pricing. A US price on their site is not what a UK card will necessarily be charged.

If you want Wispr transcripts in Claude, connect it under Customize > Connectors. On Team, an admin adds it first. The connector reads meeting notes. It does not read your dictation history. Tell people before you record a meeting. See Security, privacy and compliance.

Where to start in 30 minutes​

  1. Install it and set the key.
  2. Add the company names and people's names you use every day.
  3. Dictate one real prompt into Claude. Include the detail you'd have skipped if you were typing.
  4. If a name comes out wrong, add it to the dictionary before the next one.
